West Bank of Luxor is a vast necropolis, and beyond the many thousands of spectacular tombs, consisting of large corridors and halls, decorated with striking reliefs. It is essentially a place of death Most of temples at the Western side of the Nile in Luxor are mortuary temples ancient pharaohs, queens, nobles and even workers tried to defy mortality. But mentioning Luxor West Banks is usually refering to Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut, as well as Memnon Colossi.
The Valley of the Queens is a place in Egypt where wives of Pharaohs were buried in ancient times. It is also known as Biban al Harim and Ta Set Neferu, which means “seat of beauty”. The Valley of the Queens is located on the West Bank at Luxor (ancient Thebes) on the west bank of Luxor. It is a lovely place, this small, Ushaped wadi, curving south and west. Rugged limestone cliffs jut upward, their strata turning and twisting in dramatic contrast to the horizontal beds of other Theban hills.
The Deir el-Bahri Temple Complex (also spelled Deir el-Bahari) includes one of the most beautiful temples in Egypt, perhaps in the world due to its design and decorations. In the 7th century AD, it was named after a Coptic monastery in the area, known as the “Northern monastery”. Today it is known as the Temple of Deir El-Bahri, which means in Arabic, the “Temple of the Northern monastery”.
Perhaps the most imposing monument on the West Bank at Luxor are the famous ‘Colossi of Memnon’. On your way to visit the west bank of Luxor, the first monument that you will encounter, before you get to valley, is the two gigantic statues known as the Colossi of Memnon. The Colossi of Memnon are two massive stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III. For 3,400 years they have sat in the Theban necropolis, across the River Nile from the city of Luxor.
